  3. Aligning the Instrument

  5. Turn the instrument on with the 
  6. lamp control switch (use M 
  7. setting) which is on the base to 
  8. the examiner's right side.  
  9. Grossly adjust the position of 
  10. the instrument with the joystick.  
  11. The patient is instructed to look 
  12. down the center of the objective 
  13. of the instrument.  They should 
  14. be told they will be able to see 
  15. the reflection of their eye in the 
  16. instrument and they should look 
  17. directly at their eye.
